When I left work they gave me a gift card for a local bookshop. I bought:
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
Villette by Charlotte Bronte
The Women Behind the Door by Roddy Doyle
I still have $30 left to spend and $10 coming from the Frequent Reader Club, so that’s nice.
I am starting with Shirley Jackson since a spooky book is fun at Halloween. Last year I read Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu.
My 85 year old mother left the bookshop without telling me where she was going. She’s of sound mind, but . . . .where is she?
